Christmas Tour

Hi there, everyone!  I hope you're all having a great week so far.  I've been a little under the weather; my recurring inner ear problem has come back the last few days, and I've been riding the couch with a bad case of the dizzies.  You have no idea how boring just sitting around is, especially when there's so much Christmas stuff to be done!  Luckily, hubs and I got most of the decorating done on Thanksgiving weekend, so at least I don't have to worry about that.

Speaking of Christmas decorations, I thought it would be fun to give you guys a little tour of my decked halls, because what's more fun than sharing all the cute things I've created over the years?

We have a small home, but I decorate big time, starting with our tree.  A couple years ago, I decided to redo our tree with a more homemade theme.  I created dozens of plastic canvas ornaments, and we use wide sparkly ribbon instead of garland, and top it with a big handmade bow.  It looks very down to earth, but at the same time, it's so elegant.  I love it!

Here it is in the daylight.  I threw on a crocheted popcorn garland to see what it would look like.  I'm still undecided on whether I'd like to make more to finish the tree or not, so it'll live there for a little while longer.

And here it is all lit up at night.  It's so pretty!  The picture doesn't do it justice.

Here are some close ups of the ornaments I've made:

Most of the designs are from other sources, books or websites.  I did however make the pattern for the mini mitten myself.  I thing I still have the pattern somewhere... I'll look around and if I find it, I'll post it!

But my decorations don't stop with the tree.  I decorate every surface is my living room and dining room!

Here's a desk that's usually in the corner where the tree currently is.  Yes, that is a pen holder in the one corner; it's still a desk afterall!  (That little PC house is my own design.)

Here's the top of my TV stand.  I made the cute PC snowman a couple years ago, and the painted Christmas tree was a gift from my MIL.

This is another gift from my MIL, a cute PC gingerbread house that's sitting on my coffee table.  She's actually the person who got me into plastic canvas in the first place!

This is the book shelf in the dining room, with a tiny white village decorating the top.  Along with a proportionately giant angel.  Maybe that's why the shepherds were afraid of the angel on the first Christmas?  Because she was taller than the houses?  Lol!

Here's a tiny Christmas tree I use a a centerpiece on my dining room table.  It's fun to decorate!

Here it is lit up at night!

I even decorate my hutch.  The handles all get bows, I put tiny Christmas trees on top, and the inside gets a poinsettia garland (though that's hard to see in this picture).

And let's not forget the advent calendars!  We may be adults, but my hubs and I love Christmas like a couple of kids.  Every year we buy each other candy to fill our advent calendars, and we take a piece out every day before Christmas.  It makes the month a lot of fun.  And delicious!

I probably could have taken a lot more pictures, but I don't want to overload you with Christmas this early in the season!  I hope you enjoyed my little tour and hopefully it put you in the Christmas mood.  I'd love to hear from you all about what you think about my decor!

So have you started decorating yet?  Do you get the tree out right after the Thanksgiving bird has been carved like we do, or do you wait a little longer?
