Free Friday: Lovely Heart Bookmark

Happy Friday, everyone?  How has your February been so far?  Mine hasn't been too great.  I had a pretty awful week this week... for no particular reason exactly.  I guess I was just feeling sorry for myself and got myself into a pretty deep funk of a mood, but last night I decided that I can't keep doing that to myself all winter.  I need to take care of myself, keep working toward my goals, and try to enjoy every day as it comes.  There's many things to be grateful for in this life and it's a terrible shame to ignore your blessings.  So what are you grateful for today?

I have one more Valentine's pattern to share this week!  It's a sweet little bookmark that is easy to whip up and would make such a pretty present for a sweet heart, especially tucked into a good book!

Free Friday: Valentine's Coaster

Happy Friday, everyone!  It's groundhog's day today.  Despite the fact that I lived in Pennsylvania for  20 years before moving to NY to be with my hubs, I have never gone to Punxsatawney to see old Phil.  I keep thinking it would be fun, but then I remember that it's February and who want to stand outside in 10 degree weather to see a stupid groundhog?  I'd rather be at home where it's warm, and maybe one of the cats can pretend to be a groundhog.  They're about the same size anyway.

Today's pattern is simple but sweet and just in time to help you decorate your home for Valentine's day!

Free Friday: Pretty Book Mark

Happy Friday, everyone!  How are you all doing this first Friday of 2018?  Have you had a good year so far?  I have to tell you, I'm having trouble getting motivated to do anything.  I can't decide if it's the weather or if I'm just coming down from a huge sugar high from all the holiday cookies and candy!  Ugh, why do relatives always get me candy for Christmas anyway?  I end up with about ten pounds of chocolate and it's just all so tempting!  Does anyone else have that problem, or is it just a special kind of torture I have to go through every year?

This week's free pattern is perfect for this time of year!  What better way to spend a cold and blustery winter day than curled up with a good book?  And of course if you're reading a book, you need a good book mark, am I right?  This is super easy to whip up and also a pretty set of colors to cheer you up when all you can see outside is white!

Happy Friday, everyone!  And happy almost New Year too!  I hope you all had wonderful holidays this year.  I had a very busy and chaotic, but wonderful Christmas with my family, but boy, let me tell you, I'm glad the madness is over.  Christmas is good, but it's nice when I can get back to my normal life.

And normal is what I'm trying to achieve with today's free pattern!  I got a mess of free patterns all made up the week before Christmas, because I was too distracted to work on anything big but I also didn't want to sit around twiddling my thumbs for a whole week.  Today's pattern is one of my favorites that I made!  I just love snowflakes and wintry blues, and even though Christmas is over, winter has just begun!

Lovely Lavender Set, plastic canvas pattern, $7 on Etsy

Phew!  I worked really hard on this one this week, and I'm glad it's done!

I realize it's Friday, but I don't yet have a pattern made for Free Friday.  I plan on trying to get one done though!  At least I have an idea, so now I just need to get stitching!  If I don't post again today, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Quilted Tissue Box Cover

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  We had a pretty cold one with lots of snow!  But it was perfect weather for snuggling in with the cats and a cup of tea, my favorite winter pastime.

I've been busy with my patterns this past week.  I got a new one all done and up in my shop!  It's a pretty quilt block tissue box cover, which continues a series I hope to built into quite a collection!

Happy Friday, everyone!  How are you all doing?  It's a nice quiet day for me today.  It's cold and the sky is mostly clouded over, but it's the perfect day to snuggle down with a cup of tea and a project, which honestly is a very nice way to spend the day!

The project I've been working on today is this pretty Christmas ornament.  You could also make it a magnet or a pretty topper for a present, but I thought an ornament was a lovely way to display it.

Christmas Boxes

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I hope all is well with you.  I'm well, but this dreary weather is making me so lazy today!  Don't you hate that?  It always seems to happen when I have so much I want to do too!

It was a struggle, but I finally managed to get my Christmas pattern all finished and uploaded today, yay!

I'm going to get started right away on some new patterns.  I really want to get back into the swing of creating patterns more frequently!  Only posting one a month is a little sad.  I already have several ideas for new patterns!

Free Friday: Grape Bunch Magnet

Happy Friday, everyone!  Did you all have a good week?  Mine was odd, to say the least.  I still have vertigo, maybe a little worse today than previously.  I'm not sure what to do about it other than rest and let my body heal.  The good news is that since I've been having to spend time on the couch this week, I've gotten a lot of stitching done!  And this pattern is what I got done yesterday!

This week's pattern is a really pretty grape bunch magnet.  I think grapes are super pretty.  I may be biased since we live in a very grapey area.  Would you believe that the area I live in, western New York, is the top producer of concord grapes in the world?  So when you drink your Welch's grape juice, you're drinking something that came from my neighborhood!

Grape Bunch Magnet

Skill Level:
Beginner

Materials:
  • 7-count plastic canvas
  • Red Heart yarn in colors listed in key
  • Magnetic tape
  • Craft glue
  • Hot glue
  • #16 plastic canvas needle

Instructions:
  1. Cut and stitch plastic canvas according to graph.
  2. Overcast edges of grapes with Medium Purple, overcast back piece with Dark Orchid, and overcast edges of leaves with Medium Thyme.
  3. Attach grapes to back piece with hot glue, then attach the leaves to the back of the grape bunch (use picture above as a guide).
  4. Cut several pieces of magnetic tape to fit on the back of bat magnet. Remove paper from magnets and apply craft glue to sticky side before attaching to grape bunch. This may seem like overkill, but it makes for a very secure bond.

Free Friday: Apple Coaster

Happy Friday, everyone!  I hope you all had a pretty good week.  Mine has been busy, but I'm getting stuff done and that always feels good, right?  I just have a few more things to do and I'll be all done with my fall clean up.  I also need to go over and help my mom with her clean up, too, but that should be pretty quick and easy.  Then I can start focusing on my designs and getting ready for Christmas!

So today's pattern is one I've been promising for about a month now, lol.  It's a pretty little apple coaster that looks good all year long, but is especially appropriate this time of year!  You can also make it in green and yellow and make your table look really festive.

Fall Boxes

Good Monday morning, everyone!  I hope you all had a lovely weekend!  Mine was busy but fun.  Hubby's brother came to visit from Atlanta for the weekend, so we spent a lot of time out eating and laughing and having lots of fun.  It's nice to have family visit, but you know what's even better?  Getting back to normal life!

And that's what I did this morning!  I finally got around to finishing my Fall Boxes pattern!

I like these boxes!  They're really cute and also functional.  They would make pretty gifts, filled with shelled nuts or candy.  My next project is to make some Christmas boxes!

Ok, I guess I'd better get going on my housework.  Have a great day, everyone!

Free Friday: Gravestone Magnet

Happy Friday, everyone!  Are you all having a good week?  Mine has been kind of chill.  I'm feeling really lazy lately and I'm not quite sure why.  My mom always told me it was the change in weather that made people sleepy in October, but it's been in the high 70s all week!  So I can't use that as an excuse.

Are you getting ready for Halloween yet?  I just LOVE Halloween!  I have all of my decorations out already and we have our candy bought and ready for when the trick-or-treaters come.  Oh I'm so excited!

So in honor of the ghoulish season, I decided to post one of my gravestone magnet patterns!  If you like this one, there is a full set in my Etsy shop selling for $3!  Check them out!
