Free Friday: Cheery Snowman Stitch-Along #4
Happy Friday to you all today! And it is a happy day here. There's a gentle fluffy snow falling outside and the sun is shining a little bit. It's warm and cheery in my house now that it's all decorated for Christmas and we're starting our winter celebrations. Don't you love this time of year and how cozy and joyous it is?
It's once again time for our stitch-along, and this is the last one! In case you missed it, I announced four weeks ago that we would be doing a Christmasy plastic canvas stitch along! It will be a pattern given out in four parts, one a week for four weeks. All of the required materials for the entire project are posted on that announcement page I linked to, so if you want to join us, click on that to see what you'll need to finish the entire project. If you can't get started right away, I'll post the pattern in its entirety at the end of the stitch-along so that you can do it at your leisure!
Week #1: Snowman Body
Week #2: Hat and Carrot
Week #3: Scarf and Holly Leaves
2. Use the second set of pliers to begin twisting the wires, as below:
3. Continue twisting until you are left with 1/2 inch of untwisted wire on both ends, like in the picture below:
4. Repeat for second arm; set arms aside.
5. Attach the black beads to the snowman body using the black sewing thread and sewing needle according to the graph at the end of the instructions.
6. Using the hot glue, attach the scarf, hat, carrot nose, holly leaves, and red pompoms. Use the picture above and the close up shot below as a guide.
7. Bend the arms to form the shapes in the picture below, and attach as shown using hot glue. To make sure arms don't detach in the future, be sure that the hot glue goes all the way around the wire by adding a little on top and smearing it to the sides.
8. Cut a 4 inch piece of craft cord. Use hot glue to attach the cord to the back of the snowman, using the graph below as a guide. ♥

Free Friday: Join Our Stitch-Along!
Hi there, everyone! Are you having a good autumn so far? I feel like it's zipping by so quickly, like I hardly have time to appreciate its magnificent beauty before it's gone. I love autumn! It's definitely my favorite season of all.
That's not to say that I don't love winter, which I do! The majestic beauty of a snowy landscape is a sight to behold, and of course who doesn't love the Christmas season? Time spent with family, baking cookies, wrapping presents, drinking hot cocoa, and of course building snowmen!
I thought we should do something to help us get into the wintry Christmas season, and since I'm a plastic canvas designer, what else would I think of but to make a plastic canvas design! And not just a design, but a stitch-along design!
So my plan in so release a section of the pattern every week, lasting for four weeks, so that we can stitch this lovely pattern together. Once the stitch-along is over, I'll post the pattern in its entirety in case you missed the event!
If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment! We'll start next week so make sure to come back and join us!

Free Friday: Maple Leaf Coaster
Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you're all having an amazing summer. I love this time of year. For me, it means the season is slowing down, the air starts feeling a little cooler, and the crickets are singing. Autumn is right around the corner, and although I love and will miss summer, I adore fall and can't wait for it to be here.
So because I'm feeling so excited about autumn, I decided to make an autumn pattern to share with you all! I hope this is a good sign that I'll be able to get back into my designs again now that summer is slowing down!

Free Friday: Simple Earring Holder
Happy Friday, everyone! Did you have a good week? Mine was pretty messy. We got the water issue taken care of at my mom's house, but I still haven't found my wedding ring :( I'm sad, but I'm trying not to let it consume me. I have some charming (ok, not really) obsessive qualities about me, so as you can imagine, that's a very hard feat. I made a very long and comprehensive list of places to thoroughly check, and once I'm done looking in every single place on the list, then I'll start thinking about getting a new ring.
But enough about depressing subjects. This week, I got a comment on my blog from someone who said they'd like to see some earring holder patterns. In case you weren't aware, I do have a very lovely earring holder pattern up in my Etsy shop. It's one of my best sellers!
However, I realize it's a fairly complicated pattern and not everyone wants to do one that fancy. I ended up giving that earring holder to my Mother-in-law for Christmas the year before last. She loves it! I, on the other hand, have a very simple earring holder for myself. This comes from a terrible disease I have called Lazy-itus. Yes, that's right friends, I have the lazies.
And that's it! You can prop this up on a dresser, or attach a wire to hang on a nail. I just hang mine using the frame lip, though that's not very stable. Again, I have the lazies.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my simple little pattern today! Have a wonderful weekend!

Simple Earring Holder
Skill Level:
BeginnerMaterials:
- Wooden frame
- Plastic Canvas
- Hot glue
Instructions:
- If your frame came with glass and a backing, remove those.
- Carefully cut plastic canvas so that it sits inside the lip on the backside of the frame, but isn't too small to fall through.
- Lay the plastic canvas inside the frame. Using the hot glue gun, apply a thick layer of hot glue on top of the plastic canvas. Use the nose of the got glue gun, or a wooden skewer, to smear the glue around, making sure it sinks into the holes in the plastic canvas and up the sides of the frame lip. Use lots of glue. Go over it twice if you need to. The point is to create a thick layer that is attached to the wood that will hold the plastic canvas in.
And that's it! You can prop this up on a dresser, or attach a wire to hang on a nail. I just hang mine using the frame lip, though that's not very stable. Again, I have the lazies.

Free Friday: Lovely Heart Bookmark
Happy Friday, everyone? How has your February been so far? Mine hasn't been too great. I had a pretty awful week this week... for no particular reason exactly. I guess I was just feeling sorry for myself and got myself into a pretty deep funk of a mood, but last night I decided that I can't keep doing that to myself all winter. I need to take care of myself, keep working toward my goals, and try to enjoy every day as it comes. There's many things to be grateful for in this life and it's a terrible shame to ignore your blessings. So what are you grateful for today?
I have one more Valentine's pattern to share this week! It's a sweet little bookmark that is easy to whip up and would make such a pretty present for a sweet heart, especially tucked into a good book!

Free Friday: Valentine's Coaster
Happy Friday, everyone! It's groundhog's day today. Despite the fact that I lived in Pennsylvania for 20 years before moving to NY to be with my hubs, I have never gone to Punxsatawney to see old Phil. I keep thinking it would be fun, but then I remember that it's February and who want to stand outside in 10 degree weather to see a stupid groundhog? I'd rather be at home where it's warm, and maybe one of the cats can pretend to be a groundhog. They're about the same size anyway.
Today's pattern is simple but sweet and just in time to help you decorate your home for Valentine's day!

Free Friday: Pretty Book Mark
Happy Friday, everyone! How are you all doing this first Friday of 2018? Have you had a good year so far? I have to tell you, I'm having trouble getting motivated to do anything. I can't decide if it's the weather or if I'm just coming down from a huge sugar high from all the holiday cookies and candy! Ugh, why do relatives always get me candy for Christmas anyway? I end up with about ten pounds of chocolate and it's just all so tempting! Does anyone else have that problem, or is it just a special kind of torture I have to go through every year?
This week's free pattern is perfect for this time of year! What better way to spend a cold and blustery winter day than curled up with a good book? And of course if you're reading a book, you need a good book mark, am I right? This is super easy to whip up and also a pretty set of colors to cheer you up when all you can see outside is white!

Free Friday: Winter Coaster
Happy Friday, everyone! And happy almost New Year too! I hope you all had wonderful holidays this year. I had a very busy and chaotic, but wonderful Christmas with my family, but boy, let me tell you, I'm glad the madness is over. Christmas is good, but it's nice when I can get back to my normal life.
And normal is what I'm trying to achieve with today's free pattern! I got a mess of free patterns all made up the week before Christmas, because I was too distracted to work on anything big but I also didn't want to sit around twiddling my thumbs for a whole week. Today's pattern is one of my favorites that I made! I just love snowflakes and wintry blues, and even though Christmas is over, winter has just begun!

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2018 brings you all happiness and love and amazing new adventures!

Free Friday: Poinsettia Ornament
Happy Friday, everyone! How are you all doing? It's a nice quiet day for me today. It's cold and the sky is mostly clouded over, but it's the perfect day to snuggle down with a cup of tea and a project, which honestly is a very nice way to spend the day!
The project I've been working on today is this pretty Christmas ornament. You could also make it a magnet or a pretty topper for a present, but I thought an ornament was a lovely way to display it.
